Rihanna @ Millennium Stadium, Cardiff First UK date of Diamonds world tour

Unlike recent dates across Europe, where she’s been up to two hours late Rihanna kicked off right on cue.
The Bajan bounced on stage wearing see-through gear that left little to the imagination and opened with Phresh Out The Runway, followed by her duet with ex CHRIS BROWN – Birthday Cake – and Talk That Talk.
She shouted: “I’m finally here, finally here in the UK where I belong.”

The run of new tracks continued with Pour It Up, Cockiness and Numb before bringing out the bigger hits from her earlier albums which really got the crowd going.
Fresh from an intermission, which featured a lengthy guitar solo accompanied by a slow motion video of Rihanna exhaling smoke, she came back with You Da One, Man Down, No Love Allowed, What’s My Name and Rude Boy all rattled through with enthusiasm.
A controversial move saw one of her biggest hits, Umbrella, placed in the middle of the show when it’s usually reserved for the last stretch.
Another intermission was capped with a string of lesser known songs – Rockstar 101, Red Lipstick and Loveeeeee Song.
In past tours, when Rihanna has reached the UK, she’s barely had enough energy to muster a stage presence.
Fortunately this concert was nothing like that.
The second half by far outweighed the first.
Love the Way You Lie, Hate That I Love You and Take A Bow led into the more upbeat tracks – We Found Love, S&M, Only Girl In The World, Don’t Stop The Music and Where Have You Been, with an encore of Stay and Diamonds.
Complaints about time-keeping have only just outweighed criticism of her lack of effort during shows, with one German journo last week comparing her dancing to that of a “drugged rich baby”.
She definitely put in a shift here – as did support DAVID GUETTA.
Hopefully she’ll lay off the suspicious-looking cigarettes for a few days longer so the rest of the UK gets the same treatment.
